Deerfield Township

Deerfield Township, Ohio

a great place to live, work, shop!

Founded in 1803, Deerfield Township truly is a great place to live, work and shop! The Pilgrims brought the township form of government to America in 1620. This form of government, which New Englanders still refer to as the “town,” eventually spread west to the Rocky Mountains. Today 22 states have the township form of government.

Just as in 1803, Ohio townships today are political subdivisions of the state. Over the years the functions and duties of the township have evolved to keep pace with changing times. The state legislature has granted townships authority to fulfill these increasing duties. A Home Rule Township, Deerfield Township has grown in scope and autonomy. Because residents have a voice in how their community takes shape, township government could be said to be the form of government closest to the people.

Recreation
Deerfield Township is home to a major cinema complex, specialty shops, hiking trails, and an abundance of parks. In recent years the Board of Trustees expanded the Township park system which includes athletic fields, Warren County’s first dog run, a fishing pond, picnic areas, tennis and basketball courts, and baseball fields. The Deerfield Towne Center lifestyle mall has more than 60 retail shops and some of the finest restaurants.

Schools
Deerfield Township also offers the best in school districts, encompassing three exceptional choices — Kings Local Schools, Mason City Schools and Princeton City Schools. Parochial education is also an option for families, and those pursuing secondary education have access to several colleges.

Special Events
There’s an abundance of community spirit in Deerfield Township, evident with growing attendance at our annual events such as our spring Art Show, Deerfield Day in September, October Halloween Treat Street, and Annual Tree Lighting in Deerfield in December. These events provide residents and businesses the opportunity to celebrate our great community. Deerfield Day, our biggest event, offers a 5K race, booths, rides, musical entertainment, demonstrations and great food. There’s a lot to do in
Deerfield Township, the community of choice in Warren County!
